PlatinumGames Loses Another Key Developer to Housemarque

The departure of Abebe Tinari, director of Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon, from PlatinumGames to Housemarque, adds to the growing concerns surrounding PlatinumGames' future. This follows the high-profile exit of Hideki Kamiya in September 2023, further fueling uncertainty about the studio's direction.

Tinari's move to Housemarque, the Returnal developer, was confirmed via his LinkedIn profile. He has assumed a lead game designer role, likely contributing to Housemarque's currently unannounced new IP. This new project has been in development since the release of Returnal in 2021. While a reveal isn't anticipated before 2026, Tinari's expertise will undoubtedly strengthen Housemarque's development efforts.

The recent exodus of key developers from PlatinumGames, including those who quietly removed all mention of the studio from their social media, raises significant questions about the studio's upcoming projects. While PlatinumGames is celebrating Bayonetta's 15th anniversary, potentially hinting at a new installment, the future of Project GG, Hideki Kamiya's previously helmed new IP, remains unclear following his departure. The impact of these departures on PlatinumGames' future output remains to be seen.
