A new trailer for the highly anticipated TV series Alien: Earth has surfaced online, giving fans an exciting glimpse into what's in store. The trailer, first showcased at Disney's 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders and shared by @CineGeekNews on X/Twitter, depicts the harrowing plight of a spaceship crew battling a Xenomorph, now on a collision course with Earth.
The trailer showcases the new Xenomorph design and highlights the striking resemblance of Alien: Earth's aesthetic to Ridley Scott’s iconic 1979 film. The setting inside a MU/TH/UR control room mirrors the one on the Nostromo, where Ripley famously uncovered the dire situation facing her crew.
In the trailer, a frantic crew member can be seen banging on a sealed door, trying to escape the approaching Xenomorph. Meanwhile, Morrow, portrayed by Babou Ceesay, coldly reports the escape of the "specimens," declares the crew dead, and sets the ship's course towards Earth. The scene shifts to six soldiers advancing toward what appears to be the crashed ship, hinting at an ominous outcome.
This trailer raises numerous questions: Will Morrow survive? What drives him? Are there any other survivors? Was anyone impregnated by the Xenomorph? And how will the soldiers meet their fate?
Alien: Earth follows the story of a mysterious crashed spaceship on Earth, where a young woman, played by Sydney Chandler, and a group of tactical soldiers make a terrifying discovery that brings them face-to-face with the planet's greatest threat.
Set in 2120, Alien: Earth is positioned within the Alien timeline just two years before the events of the original Alien film. This placement has led fans to speculate whether the series might show the Nostromo's departure from Earth or reveal how Weyland-Yutani became aware of the Xenomorphs. Notably, the series Alien: Romulus, set between Alien and Aliens, provides another interquel in the franchise.
Showrunner Noah Hawley has stated his intention to steer away from the backstory established in Prometheus, favoring the "retro-futurism" of the original films. After discussing various elements with Ridley Scott, Hawley chose to focus on the lore of the initial movies, diverging from the bioweapon narrative introduced in the prequels.
Alien: Earth is set to premiere on Hulu in the summer of 2025, with Alien: Romulus 2 also in development, continuing to expand the rich universe of the Alien franchise.
