Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Now Offers Game Streaming on Consoles

Authore: FinnUpdate:May 20,2025

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members have received an exciting new perk: the ability to stream select games directly to their Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One consoles without needing to download them. This feature, announced today via Xbox Wire, expands the cloud streaming capabilities previously available on smart TVs, PCs, smartphones, and Meta Quest headsets to include console gaming for the first time. This innovation is designed to save users time and valuable hard drive space, making it easier than ever to dive into your gaming experience.

To take advantage of this feature on your Xbox console, simply navigate to My games & apps > Full library > Owned Games. Look for games marked with a cloud badge, which indicate they're available for streaming. You can filter games by selecting Filter > Ready to play > Cloud gaming. To start streaming, choose the game and select Play with Cloud Gaming. Additionally, you can initiate streaming directly from the Store app after purchasing select cloud-playable games.

Conversely, if you have games installed on your Xbox, you can now stream them to devices with supported web browsers using this link. Note that this feature is no longer supported on the Xbox mobile app, but remains accessible on smartphones via the browser link. Xbox is also expanding this functionality to Samsung and Amazon Fire smart TVs, as well as Meta Quest headsets.

In another exciting update, Xbox has announced that starting this month, Xbox and Xbox 360 backward compatible games will support remote play. This is part of Xbox's broader effort to optimize storage space on consoles. A new feature in the console's settings, accessible via My Games & Apps > Manage, will now provide recommendations for freeing up hard drive space.

Xbox's commitment to enhancing storage solutions comes as game install sizes continue to grow, with titles like Call of Duty and Baldur's Gate 3 setting new benchmarks. If you're in need of additional storage, even with these new streaming options, we've covered some of the best storage expansion options for the Xbox Series X and S. These are particularly useful if you're not ready to upgrade to one of the newer Xbox models with increased built-in storage.
