I've always been a dedicated PC gamer, with Steam sales being my go-to for snagging new releases. Game Pass never seemed essential to me—until yesterday. The surprise drop of *The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered* by Bethesda and Virtuos onto Game Pass was a game-changer. And with *Clair Obscur: Expedition 33* from Sandfall Interactive set to join tomorrow, drawing inspiration from the JRPG classics, Microsoft has finally won me over as a die-hard RPG enthusiast.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Both Hit Game Pass This Week

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered made its unexpected debut across PC, consoles, and Game Pass on April 22. I spent the day downloading and the night immersed in its revamped world, enjoying new character models, enhanced combat interactions, and updated VFX. While Virtuos brought in new voices, they preserved the charm of the original's dialogue. The base edition of the remaster is priced at $49.99, including the original DLCs, with a deluxe edition available for $10 more.

Meanwhile, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 marks the eagerly awaited debut from French studio Sandfall Interactive. Set to launch at midnight PST tonight in the U.S., it boasts a 92 rating on Metacritic and a glowing 9/10 from IGN, which praised its story design as "a true modern throwback." The game's UI echoes the style of the Persona series, and its turn-based combat system is among the most innovative I've seen. The base edition is priced at $49.99, matching the Bethesda remaster.
Despite Expedition 33 being the advertised highlight of April's Game Pass lineup, the sudden release of Oblivion Remastered has cast a bit of a shadow over the indie game's debut. However, from my perspective, we're fortunate to have two amazing games to enjoy, and Game Pass makes it more affordable. Instead of shelling out $100 for both, I opted for a $20 Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Now, the only challenge is finding time to step away from my screen.
Plenty more of 2025's biggest titles have recently joined the service, including Blue Prince, South of Midnight, and Avowed, alongside classics like GTA V and the entire Call of Duty collection. Truly, there's something for everyone on Game Pass.
Game Pass Is a Ridiculously Good Deal Right Now
Game Pass Ultimate is priced at $19.99 per month, offering access to the full Game Pass library across consoles, PCs, and cloud gaming. The PC-only version is more budget-friendly at $9.99 per month. The Standard and Core tiers, at $14.99 and $9.99 per month respectively, don't include day-one releases. The last price increase occurred in July 2024, and given these blockbuster additions, another hike might be on the horizon this year.
Currently, there are no active Game Pass deals, but opting for a three-month subscription could shield you from potential future increases.
