Saber Interactive has exciting news for fans eagerly awaiting the release of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. The developers have confirmed that the game will launch without any form of digital rights management (DRM), including Denuvo, ensuring a smoother gaming experience. As the game's official launch approaches on September 9, this decision reflects Saber Interactive's commitment to delivering an unhindered gameplay experience for all players.
Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 Says “No” to Using DRM
In an FAQ released by Saber Interactive, the developers provided a comprehensive overview of what to expect from Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. One of the key highlights is the absence of DRM software, such as Denuvo, which has been a point of contention in the gaming community. DRM is often used to combat piracy but can also negatively impact game performance, as seen in cases like Capcom's implementation of Enigma DRM in Monster Hunter Rise, which reportedly affected compatibility with Steam Deck and mod features.
While Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will not utilize DRM, the game will incorporate the anti-cheat software Easy Anti-Cheat on PC at launch. This decision comes after scrutiny from the gaming community, particularly following the Apex Legends hacking incident during the ALGS 2024 tournament, which was allegedly linked to Easy Anti-Cheat.
No Microtransactions As Well
Saber Interactive has also addressed concerns regarding microtransactions and mod support. The developers have confirmed that there are no current plans for official mod support, which might disappoint some players. However, the game offers a plethora of exciting features to look forward to, including a PvP arena mode, horde mode, and an extensive photo mode. Importantly, all gameplay content and features in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will be free for everyone. Any microtransactions or paid DLC will be strictly limited to cosmetic items, ensuring that the core gameplay experience remains accessible and fair for all players.
