"Star Wars: KOTOR Remake Still in Development, Developer Confirms"

Authore: JoshuaUpdate:Apr 27,2025

Saber Interactive has reaffirmed that all its previously announced projects are still actively in development, despite the lack of updates on high-profile titles like the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake. Following the recent announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Saber's Chief Creative Officer, Tim Willits, took to Twitter to reassure fans that the studio is diligently working on every project it has announced.

"Saber Interactive stands as one of the largest independent developers globally," Willits stated. "Our portfolio spans numerous games across diverse genres. Rest assured, everything we've discussed is still in the pipeline. We'll provide updates on our upcoming titles as soon as we have exciting news to share."

The statement directly addresses the status of the KOTOR remake, a project that has been shrouded in mystery since its announcement in 2021. The remake has experienced a tumultuous development journey, changing developers multiple times and seemingly halting and restarting development. Despite these challenges, Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch confirmed in April 2024 that the KOTOR project was still alive and well, having been retained by Saber during its separation from Embracer Group. Karch emphasized their commitment to delivering a product that surpasses consumer expectations.

Willits' recent comments, nearly a year after Karch's statement, reinforce this dedication. However, fans are yet to see any progress beyond the initial announcement trailer for the KOTOR remake.

In addition to the KOTOR remake, Saber Interactive is also developing other titles, including John Carpenter's Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival, both slated for release in 2025, though specific dates remain undisclosed. The studio is also working on a new Turok game and an untitled project based on Avatar: The Last Airbender. With the addition of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 to their lineup, Saber Interactive continues to expand its diverse gaming portfolio.
