Spider-Man 2 PC Launch Compromised by Hackers

Marvel's Spider-Man 2's PC launch on Steam and the Epic Games Store was notable for its lack of pre-order or pre-download options, resulting in a massive 140GB download. This absence of early access seemingly hampered initial anti-piracy efforts.

Despite this, within an hour of release, the game was cracked. Its relatively weak anti-piracy measures proved insufficient. Sony's understated marketing campaign and the late release of system requirements further contributed to this outcome.

Currently, Spider-Man 2 sits at seventh place among Sony's biggest Steam releases, trailing behind titles like God of War, Horizon, and Days Gone.

Initial player feedback is mixed, with a 55% positive rating based on over 1,280 reviews at the time of writing. Optimization issues, crashes, and bugs are frequently cited concerns.

Spider-Man Remastered continues to hold the series' PC player record, having once peaked at over 66,000 concurrent players. Whether Spider-Man 2 can match this success remains to be seen, though its current sales trajectory suggests a possibility of respectable performance over the weekend.
