EA and Maxis are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the iconic The Sims franchise with an exciting announcement. Both The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 are now available on PC once again, thanks to two new Legacy Collections and The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle, providing fans with a nostalgic journey back to the origins of this beloved series.

EA has released The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection today on PC. These collections can be purchased separately or together in The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle for $40, offering a comprehensive package for enthusiasts.

Each game in the collections comes packed with all expansions and nearly all stuff packs. Notably, The Sims 2: Legacy Collection does not include the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008, but both collections compensate with additional bonus content. The Sims 1 features a special Throwback Fit Kit, while The Sims 2 includes a Grunge Revival Kit alongside all other add-ons.

This re-release marks the first time in over a decade that both The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 have been readily available for play. Originally, The Sims 1 was only available on disc, making it challenging to find and run on modern Windows systems without the expansion packs. The Sims 2 was last accessible in 2014 through the Ultimate Collection on EA's Origin store, but this was discontinued, leaving only physical copies as an option until now. With the new Legacy Collections, all four The Sims games are now easily purchasable and playable through digital storefronts, enhancing accessibility for new and returning players alike.

When we first reviewed them, The Sims 1 received a stellar 9.5/10, while The Sims 2 earned a solid 8.5/10. Although the series has evolved significantly with new features and refinements, the original games retain their charm, offering a unique blend of goofiness, simplicity, challenge, and a rich legacy that continues to captivate players.

The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are available now on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and through the EA app, ensuring that fans can easily dive back into the world of The Sims and relive the magic that started it all.
