Bloodmoon Island is a mysterious and pivotal region located in the north of Reaper's Coast. Shrouded by deadly Deathfog and cut off from the mainland by a destroyed bridge, reaching this island seems daunting. However, exploring Bloodmoon Island enriches the main plot and unlocks additional side quests, making it an essential part of your journey in Divinity: Original Sin 2.

The game offers subtle clues about navigating the Deathfog, but finding them can be challenging. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to reach Bloodmoon Island and advance your story.

Spirit Vision Shows The Way

Bloodmoon Island was once connected to Reaper's Coast via a bridge located northeast of Cloisterwood, near Jahan and Witch Alice. Upon reaching the bridge, you'll also find the Driftwood Fields waypoint. To cross the now-ruined bridge, cast Spirit Vision to reveal its broken sections and navigate through the trapped segments. Here are several strategies to successfully traverse this bridge:

  1. Gloves of Teleportation: Acquired in the first act, these gloves allow you to teleport without learning the skill. Use them to move each companion across the bridge, albeit tediously.

  2. Translocation Skills: Skills like Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat enable teleportation. These are particularly useful, though not all party members may possess them.

  3. Teleporter Pyramids: With four Teleporter Pyramids in the game, you can use two to cross the bridge. Have one companion carry a pyramid and use translocation skills to reach the other side. The rest of the party can then warp to their location.

  4. Fast Travel: If a companion with translocation skills crosses the bridge and discovers the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, the rest of the party can fast travel to it, bypassing the need to cross the bridge entirely.

Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog

For parties with Fane, an undead character immune to Deathfog, an alternative route exists. Northwest of Cloisterwood, you'll find a pier with an undead ferryman who offers passage across the Deathfog to Bloodmoon Island. However, this is a trick; only Fane can survive the journey. Have Fane take the ferry alone, reach the island, discover the waypoint, and allow the rest of the party to fast travel there.

Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party

If your party lacks Fane but you're determined to use the ferry, you'll need at least two Teleporter Pyramids:

  1. Unchain the party and place a Teleporter Pyramid in the inventory of the companion taking the ferry.
  2. After they die on Bloodmoon Island's pier, use the second pyramid to warp to them.
  3. Revive the dead companion with a resurrection spell or scroll.

Without Fane, using the bridge remains the safest and quickest method to reach Bloodmoon Island.

Important Note: Avoid attacking the Undead Ferryman, as he can unleash a deadly Deathfog spell. If you decide to confront him, quick save beforehand. Defeating him yields a Soothing Cold skillbook, an ordinary belt, and 3,750XP.
