Pokémon TCG Pocket Won’t Be In The Competitive Scene Just Yet

No Plans For Competitive Pocket

Pokémon TCG Pocket Has No Plans To Go Competitive

Currently, there are no plans for Pokémon TCG Pocket to join Pokémon's competitive circuit. In a recent interview with VGC on February 25, 2025, Chris Brown, the Director of eSports at The Pokémon Company, mentioned that while they continually assess various titles for inclusion in the competitive scene, Pokémon TCG Pocket isn't on the list just yet.

In a light-hearted moment, Brown referenced the Pokémon Sleep Champion Tournament, an April Fool's parody, but firmly stated, "But at this time, there are no plans for Pokémon Pocket to join, though we’re always looking at things."

Too Early And Unbalanced

Pokémon TCG Pocket Has No Plans To Go Competitive

Although The Pokémon Company hasn't officially stated reasons for excluding Pokémon TCG Pocket from the competitive scene, fan speculation points to the game's early stage of development. Launched in October 2024, it has only been four months and has seen the release of just two sets.

While the app does include competitive features from the start, the community has voiced concerns over balancing issues. Pokémon TCG Pocket offers a simplified version of the classic card game, designed to be more accessible to newcomers rather than focused on competitive play.

Despite this, The Pokémon Competitive Circuit remains vibrant, offering events across various games like Pokémon TCG, Pokémon GO, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and Pokémon Unite. These games will all be showcased at the upcoming Pokémon World Championships in August 2025, held in Anaheim, California.
