Pokémon Gold and Silver, developed by Game Freak and released in 1999 for the Game Boy Color, were met with critical acclaim for their groundbreaking features. These games, which made their way to Western markets the following year and to Europe in 2001, introduced an innovative in-game time system. This system tracks the current time and day of the week, influencing the appearance of certain Pokémon and triggering specific game events. Additionally, Gold and Silver expanded the Pokémon universe with the introduction of 100 new species, known as Gen 2 Pokémon, including favorites like Pichu, Cleffa, Hoothoot, Chikorita, Umbreon, Ho-Oh, Lugia, and many others. The legacy of these games continued with the release of Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver for the Nintendo DS in 2009, marking their 10th anniversary.
