Following the launch of Pokémon Works in March 2024, speculation mounted regarding its future projects. Now, eight months later, it's been confirmed that Pokémon Works will assume ongoing development and updates for Pokémon Sleep, taking the reins from Select Button.

An in-app announcement (machine-translated) revealed the transition: "Previously, Pokémon Sleep's development and operation were managed by Select Button Co., Ltd. and The Pokémon Company. However, development and operation will gradually shift from Select Button to Pokémon Works."

This announcement, initially appearing in the Japanese version of the app, raises questions about the global rollout timeline, as it's not yet reflected in the global app's news section.

Details about Pokémon Works and its current projects remain scarce. However, a message from Representative Director Takuya Iwasaki on their website clarifies that the company is a collaborative venture between The Pokémon Company and Iruka Co., Ltd.

Furthermore, Pokémon Works shares a Tokyo location with ILCA, the studio behind the 2021 Pokémon remakes, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and a co-developer of Pokémon HOME. Iwasaki also confirmed Pokémon Works' contribution to Pokémon HOME's development.

While their past Pokémon-related work is limited, the company aims to "create an experience that makes Pokémon more real... so everyone can enjoy meeting and adventuring with Pokémon." Their approach to achieving this vision within Pokémon Sleep remains to be seen.
