In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, Henry faces the delightful dilemma of choosing between two horses: Pebbles and Herring. Both horses offer unique benefits, but let's delve into which one you should saddle up with for your journey through the game.
How To Find Pebbles in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
You'll reunite with Pebbles at the Semine estate before the wedding of Lord Semine and Agnes. She's waiting at the stables, and while you'll need to purchase her to ride her during the "The Jaunt" quest with Jan Semine, Pebbles is more than just a horse; she's Henry's trusted companion, much like Mutt, who you can also find through side quests.
How To Receive Herring in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
After completing "For Whom the Bell Tolls," you can choose to take Herring as your new horse. If you haven't acquired Pebbles or another horse by this point, Herring comes to you courtesy of Otto von Bergow. Should you already have a horse and decide against keeping Herring, you can negotiate a deal with Kabat for 300 Groschen to sell him to nomad traders.

At first glance, Herring might seem the superior choice due to his higher base stats. However, this is a bit deceptive. Each horse in the game unlocks a unique perk after being ridden for a certain distance, which varies from horse to horse. These perks significantly enhance the horse's stats, meaning horses with initially higher stats don't always end up being the best in the long run.
Pebbles emerges as the best option in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*. Although her base stats aren't the highest, her perk, which boosts her stats, can be unlocked after riding just 35 kilometers with her. In contrast, Herring's perk requires 50 kilometers. Moreover, you can acquire Pebbles at a lower cost or even for free, making her an excellent bargain. Once boosted, Pebbles' stats are as follows:
- 217 stamina
- 353 capacity
- 53 speed
- 12 courage
Pebbles' reliability, decent stats, and the ease of unlocking her perk make her the ideal choice. Plus, the sentimental value of reuniting with a horse that has been by Henry's side adds a special touch to your journey.
When deciding between Pebbles and Herring, Pebbles is the clear winner. With the extensive travel ahead, you need a steed you can trust, and Pebbles fits the bill perfectly.
