Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour: A Paid Experience Awaits

Nintendo has unveiled the Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, a unique digital game set to launch alongside the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. Contrary to what many might expect, this isn't a complimentary pack-in title, but a separate, paid digital game available for purchase.

During the recent Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, the Welcome Tour was described as a "virtual exhibition" that allows players to delve deep into the new system's capabilities. According to Nintendo, "through tech demos, minigames, and other interactions, players will get to know the new system inside and out in ways they may never have known about otherwise." The footage showcased during the Direct featured a small player avatar navigating a larger-than-life Switch 2, exploring its features and learning about the system through interactive exhibits. The game also includes fun minigames such as Speed Golf, Dodge the Spiked Balls, and a Maracas Physics Demo, turning the experience into a sort of virtual museum with interactive elements.

Nintendo confirmed that the Switch 2 Welcome Tour will be available for purchase on the Nintendo eShop on the launch day of the Switch 2. While the concept is certainly innovative, it has sparked curiosity among fans about why this educational tool is a paid game rather than a free inclusion with the console. As of now, no specific price has been announced.

To put this into perspective, the Switch 2 will also launch with a robust lineup of games including Mario Kart World, Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster, and Deltarune Chapters 1 through 4. The Welcome Tour, while an intriguing showcase for the new console's features, will need to compete for consumers' attention and budgets amidst these other exciting titles.
