Meta Quest Pro Officially Discontinued; Meta Quest 3 Takes the Reins

Meta has officially discontinued the Meta Quest Pro virtual reality headset. The company's website now reflects its unavailability, confirming earlier announcements predicting the end of the product line by early 2025.

The Quest Pro's high price tag of $1,499.99 proved a significant barrier to entry for most consumers and hindered corporate adoption, leading to its demise. This contrasts sharply with the more affordable Meta Quest line, ranging from $299.99 to $499.99. Remaining stock has now sold out.

Meta directs potential buyers to the Meta Quest 3, touted as the "ultimate mixed reality experience." While a few stray Quest Pro units might remain in retail stores, finding one is increasingly unlikely.

The Meta Quest 3: A Worthy Successor

The Meta Quest 3 offers comparable functionality to the Quest Pro, but at a significantly lower price point of $499. Like its predecessor, it emphasizes mixed reality, enabling users to overlay virtual displays onto the real world.

Interestingly, the Quest 3 boasts superior technical specifications in several areas. It's lighter, features higher resolution and refresh rate, potentially resulting in a more immersive and comfortable experience. Compatibility with the Quest Pro's Touch Pro controllers further sweetens the deal.

Budget-conscious users can also consider the Meta Quest 2S, a more affordable option with slightly reduced specs, starting at $299.99.
