Marvel Rivals developers have announced plans to introduce new heroes monthly and reduce season durations. Learn about their post-season 2 roadmap, including new characters and upcoming skins.
Marvel Rivals Upcoming Changes
New Heroes Every Month

NetEase revealed ambitious plans to maintain the game's freshness by shifting to monthly hero releases instead of the original two-per-season schedule. During Marvel Rivals' Dev Vision Vol. 05 on April 4, Creative Director Guangguang and Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong announced these changes along with upcoming season adjustments.
The development team will shorten seasons from three to two months while introducing new heroes monthly. Guangguang explained: "Following thorough evaluation, we're transitioning to two-month seasons starting with Season 3, featuring a new hero each month."

Guangguang acknowledged community feedback, stating: "Player discussions on social media have motivated us to maintain the game's excitement." The team is also exploring new modes to enhance gameplay, potentially increasing the roster by up to 12 heroes annually.
While this accelerated schedule presents balancing challenges, Guangguang previously detailed their data-driven approach in a March 14 PC Gamer interview. He emphasized analyzing key metrics like pick rates, win rates, and ability performance as foundational for balancing decisions.
Season 2 Details and Future Plans

The Dev Vision showcased Season 2: Hellfire Gala, where X-Men villain Emma Frost invites heroes to Krakoa. As a telepathic Vanguard-class character, Emma Frost can transform objects into diamonds.
The season trailer revealed elegant new outfits for Luna Snow, Magneto, Cloak and Dagger, and Black Panther, inspired by Marvel's elite Hellfire Club society.

Following Emma Frost, Season 2.5 will introduce iconic villain Ultron, hinted at in the trailer through his robotic invasion of the Hellfire Gala. Additional Ultron details remain forthcoming.
