Larian Reveals Exciting New Subclasses for Baldur

While many fans believed Patch 7 would mark the final major update for Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios has exciting news: another substantial update is on the horizon, slated for release in 2025. This update isn't just a minor tweak; it's bringing crossplay support, a photo mode, and a whopping 12 new subclasses, each with unique mechanics to enrich your gameplay experience.

We've already had a glimpse at four of these subclasses, and now it's time to explore the rest:

  • Oath of the Crown Paladin: Dedicated to justice and order, this subclass prioritizes the welfare of society. With the Divine Devotion ability, Oath of the Crown Paladins can absorb incoming damage meant for their allies and restore their health, making them a vital asset to any party.

  • Arcane Archer: This subclass blends martial skill with arcane magic, allowing for enchanted arrows that can blind, weaken, or even banish enemies to the Feywild until their next turn. If an arrow misses its mark, the Arcane Archer can redirect its path to hit another target, showcasing their precision and adaptability.

  • Drunken Master Monk: Embracing the unconventional, the Drunken Master Monk uses alcohol as part of their combat strategy. Their signature move intoxicates enemies, leaving them disoriented while enhancing the monk's own abilities. The use of Instant Sobriety on an affected target inflicts both physical and mental damage, adding a unique twist to their fighting style.

  • Swarmkeeper Ranger: By forming alliances with swarms of creatures, the Swarmkeeper Ranger gains powerful natural allies. These swarms not only shield the ranger from harm but also assist with teleportation. In battle, they can deploy three distinct types of swarms: electric jellyfish clusters, blinding moth clouds, and stinging bee legions capable of knocking back enemies who fail a strength check by 4.5 meters.

This upcoming update for Baldur's Gate 3 promises to deepen the game's strategic layers and enhance player engagement with these intriguing new subclasses. Stay tuned for more details as we approach the 2025 release date.
