Jack Quaid, known for his role in "The Boys," expressed his enthusiasm for potentially starring in a BioShock movie during a Reddit AMA that coincided with the release of his new film, "Novocaine." Quaid, a self-proclaimed video game aficionado, praised BioShock for its rich lore, which he believes could be effectively adapted into a film or TV series. "I would actually love to be in a live-action adaptation of BioShock - one of my favorite games of all time," he stated. He highlighted the game's deep narrative as a perfect candidate for a cinematic exploration.
However, the realization of a BioShock movie remains uncertain. Producer Roy Lee mentioned last year that the project had undergone significant changes due to leadership shifts at Netflix, resulting in a "reconfigured" and more "personal" approach to the film. These adjustments were necessitated by lower budgets, as noted by Lee. "The new regime has lowered the budgets," he explained, "So we’re doing a much smaller version. It’s going to be a more personal point of view, as opposed to a grander, big project." Despite these changes, Francis Lawrence, known for directing "The Hunger Games," remains attached to direct the film, though plot details remain under wraps.
In the same Reddit session, Quaid also touched on his striking resemblance to Max Payne, a character from the video game series whose likeness is based on Remedy's writer Sam Lake. Fans have drawn comparisons between Quaid's appearance in "Novocaine" and Max Payne, leading to speculation about a potential connection. Quaid admitted to the similarity but confessed his unfamiliarity with the game, stating, "I've seen people say that I look like Max Payne, and when I've looked at the box art, even I did a double-take. I love Rockstar's games, but unfortunately I've never played that one - it's next on the list, for sure."
Beyond BioShock and Max Payne, Quaid shared his love for FromSoftware's challenging games, mentioning his conquests of titles like Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring. "I'm a huge video game nerd," he said, "And lately I've been diving headfirst into the FromSoftware library. I beat Bloodborne, then I beat Sekiro, and now I'm going full boar into Elden Ring. Actually, the thing I use Reddit the most for is tips and tricks on beating Fromsoft's bosses. I love how challenging the games are - it took me a while to get into them, but now I'm obsessed."
