Lanterns is an upcoming DC TV show that promises a unique blend of detective drama, drawing inspiration from acclaimed series like True Detective and Slow Horses. The storyline follows Chandler's Hal Jordan and Pierre's John Stewart as they team up to unravel a murder mystery that spirals into an even deeper, darker enigma. This series is a confirmed part of James Gunn’s expansive DC universe, which also includes projects such as Creature Commandos and the forthcoming Superman and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow films.

Developed by the creative minds of Damon Lindelof, known for Lost, alongside Chris Mundy and Tom King, Lanterns is set to adopt a darker, more grounded tone. James Gunn has described it as "very grounded, very believable, very real," a surprising yet intriguing approach to a Green Lanterns series.

Kyle Chandler, renowned for his role in the drama Friday Night Lights, brings a seasoned perspective to the character of Hal Jordan. Meanwhile, Aaron Pierre, who gained recognition with his performance in Rebel Ridge, steps into the role of John Stewart. The series is slated for a 2026 premiere, coinciding with the release of the Supergirl movie, promising an exciting year for DC fans.
