GOG Revives Dino Crisis 1 and 2 for PC Gamers

Authore: HenryUpdate:Jun 13,2025

Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 are making a dramatic comeback with brand-new PC re-releases via GOG.

The beloved PlayStation survival horror titles—long cherished by fans of the genre—are now available on GOG, part of the platform’s Preservation Program. This means both games are offered completely DRM-free, preserving their original content while ensuring they run smoothly on modern systems.

Originally launched for the PlayStation in 1999 and 2000 respectively, Dino Crisis and its sequel captured players' imaginations with their tense gameplay and dinosaur-infested environments. The series later expanded with Dino Crisis 3, which debuted as an Xbox exclusive in 2003. Since then, however, the franchise has remained dormant.

Despite growing fan demand for a revival—whether through a full reboot or high-definition remake—Capcom appears to have moved on. Its 2022 release of Exoprimal, a multiplayer action title featuring dinosaurs, was widely interpreted as signaling the end of any potential return for Dino Crisis. Further dampening hopes, series creator Shinji Mikami noted that Capcom’s focus on Monster Hunter leaves little room for revisiting older franchises.

For years, the PC versions of the first two Dino Crisis games were notoriously difficult to find and even harder to get working properly on modern hardware. Thanks to GOG's efforts, these obstacles are now gone.

“Thanks to the tremendous efforts of Capcom and GOG, Regina’s iconic line, 'You’re extinct!' no longer applies to the game itself,” GOG stated. “The timeless thriller that defined a generation of gamers is made to last forever, enhanced for today’s systems, featuring all the original content you loved—with numerous improvements.”
