The game follows Cloud Strife, a former SOLDIER, as he joins Avalanche to prevent Shinra Electric Power Company from destroying the planet.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the sequel continuing the story after the escape from Midgar, receives update 1.080. This update enhances realism and tactile feedback. The PC version launches January 23, 2025. This second installment in the trilogy expands the storyline with a focus on exploration.
While Final Fantasy XVI's initial May 2024 sales were disappointing, sales eventually slowed, ultimately falling short of projected financial targets. Precise sales figures remain undisclosed. Similarly, Square Enix has not released sales data for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which also underperformed expectations.
However, Square Enix clarified that they don't consider Final Fantasy VII Rebirth a complete failure. They also remain confident that Final Fantasy XVI can still achieve its goals within its 18-month timeframe.
