Path of Exile 2's endgame presents a significant challenge. To ease the transition, developers have strategically placed hidden encounters within the main campaign. These encounters offer permanent stat boosts, extra passive skill points, and weapon skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. However, its location is easily overlooked. This guide explains how to find and activate this beneficial encounter.

Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan

The Sisters of Garukhan encounter appears twice: once in Act 2 and again in Act 2 Cruel. Interacting with the shrine grants the +10% Lightning Resistance buff. Its in-game icon is small and easily missed on the world map.

Due to PoE 2's randomly generated maps, there's no guaranteed location within the Spires of Deshar. However, diligent exploration will reveal a shrine resembling the image above. Approaching and interacting with the shrine activates the buff. Be prepared for combat; dormant automatons guarding the shrine will awaken and attack upon interaction. Activating the shrine triggers all automatons on the map.

A helpful strategy involves using the checkpoint near the shrine's location to avoid traversing the entire map if you've already reached the exit checkpoint.

Unlocking the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff

The +10% Lightning Resistance is applied instantly upon interacting with the shrine. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; activation is immediate upon contact.

Remember, the Sisters of Garukhan encounter is repeatable in Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine in both locations yields a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.

Why My Lightning Resistance Isn't Increasing

Many players are confused when their resistance values remain negative despite activating the Sisters of Garukhan. This is because PoE 2 applies a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances after each Act completion (Chaos Resistance is unaffected).

Therefore, activating the shrine in Act 2 nets zero change to Lightning Resistance (the buff cancels the Act 1 debuff). In Act 2 Cruel, the net effect is a reduction from -40% to -30% Lightning Resistance.

To verify the buff's activation, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance value indicates that all campaign buffs are correctly applied.
