When the game launched in October 2023, it faced criticism from dedicated UFC fans over its initial fighter roster. In response, EA Vancouver promised to expand the roster with more ranked fighters across various weight classes. Thanks to consistent content updates, EA Sports UFC 5 now boasts a 98% alignment with the current UFC top ten rankings.

Kicking off the second year of EA Sports UFC 5, the January 9 update introduces Azamat Murzakanov to the Light Heavyweight division. This undefeated Russian fighter brings impressive stats to the game, including a 97 power punch rating, 95 accuracy, and 94 ground striking. While only one new fighter is added in this update, EA Vancouver has also teased the inclusion of three new alter egos, though the specific fighters have not yet been disclosed.

In addition to the new fighter and alter egos, the update includes several minor bug fixes and a gameplay adjustment. According to the official patch notes, the stamina cost of the muscle modifier has been reduced from x3.125 to 2.5.
