The creators of the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, inspired by the popular Dark and Darker, have announced the cessation of support for the game and the closure of its servers. This project, which lasted less than a year, struggled to maintain its player base due to insufficient player engagement and a lack of substantial updates.
While Dungeonborne's Steam page remains accessible, it has been removed from the platform's search results and can only be accessed via a direct link. Although the official reasons for the shutdown remain undisclosed, it's evident that the extremely low player count was a significant factor. Since late 2024, the game hovered around a maximum of 200 concurrent players, with recent activity plummeting to just 10-15 players.
Dungeonborne's servers are scheduled to be permanently shut down on May 28, marking the end of the project's journey. Thus, a game that initially captured the interest of genre enthusiasts will now fade into obscurity, unable to fulfill its promising potential.
