RGG Studio Says Their Next Title Will Be ‘Surprising’ -----------------------------------------------------Another Surprising Shift?
During the third day of Anime Expo, held in Los Angeles, California, Ryu Ga Gotoku (RGG) Studio hosted the Essence of Fandom: Like a Dragon & Yakuza Experience. The event was led by Linda “VampyBitMe” Le, with special guests Like a Dragon Chief Producer Hiroyuki Sakamoto and Voice Actor of Ichiban Kasuga, Kazuhiro Nakaya.
At the event, the studio teased their upcoming game, with representatives stating, "We can’t tell you what kind of game it is, but I will tell you, you’ll be surprised." This intriguing statement was captured by fan @TheYakuzaGuy on Twitter, who also confirmed that it pertains to a new entry in the Like a Dragon series.
The seventh mainline game in the series, which shifted to a full JRPG format from the traditional action beat 'em up style, already set a precedent for surprises. This new "surprising" entry could potentially explore new genres, such as a rhythm game centered around the beloved karaoke mini-game, or feature spin-offs with other series characters. It might even revisit past titles with a remake or sequel to games like Yakuza: Dead Souls or the Japan-exclusive Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan.
