Doug Bowser: Nintendo to Meet U.S. Demand for Switch 2

Authore: PenelopeUpdate:Dec 09,2025

The launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated console releases in recent years. According to Doug Bowser, President of Nintendo of America, the company is confident it will have sufficient inventory to meet consumer demand throughout 2025, including the crucial holiday season. Speaking with IGN, Bowser emphasized that Nintendo has a strategy in place to ensure a continuous flow of units following the console’s June 5 launch.

While preorders for the Switch 2—priced at $449.99—launched on April 24 after a brief delay due to tariff concerns, the process was met with overwhelming demand. Nintendo has since acknowledged that delivery by the launch date is not guaranteed for all customers who preordered through the My Nintendo Store, citing high volume as the primary reason. Despite this, Bowser expressed confidence that those who preordered will eventually receive their consoles, reinforcing the company’s commitment to fulfilling demand.

Nintendo’s production forecast supports this outlook, with 15 million units of the Switch 2 planned for the fiscal year, alongside 4.5 million remaining Switch units. This target was set to mirror the successful launch trajectory of the original Switch during its first 10 months on the market. For U.S. consumers, this suggests a steady supply through 2025, reducing the likelihood of prolonged shortages.

Regarding pricing, Bowser confirmed that Nintendo remains committed to the announced price points: $449.99 for the base console and $499.99 for the Mario Kart World bundle. Although global trade conditions remain fluid, especially with ongoing tariff discussions, the company has made a deliberate effort to maintain affordability and consumer confidence. Nintendo aims to keep the Switch 2 as accessible as possible, navigating market changes without compromising on availability or cost.
