How Doom 2099 Functions in Marvel Snap

Doom 2099 is a 4-cost, 2-power card with a unique ability: "After each turn, add a DoomBot 2099 to a random location if you played (exactly) 1 card." DoomBot 2099 (also 4-cost, 2-power) boasts the "Ongoing: Your other DoomBots and Doom have +1 Power" ability. Crucially, this buff applies to both Doom 2099 and regular Doctor Doom bots.

Playing one card per turn maximizes Doom 2099's potential. An early Doom 2099 can generate three DoomBots, adding significant power. Combining him with Doctor Doom on the final turn further amplifies this effect. Effectively, Doom 2099 can function as a 17-power card, potentially even higher with strategic card plays or Magik's game extension.

However, Doom 2099's randomness (DoomBots appearing in unpredictable locations) and vulnerability to Enchantress (which negates the DoomBot buffs) are notable weaknesses.

Top Tier Doom 2099 Decks in Marvel Snap

Doom 2099's one-card-per-turn requirement makes it a strong fit for Spectrum-based Ongoing decks. Here's an example:

Ant-Man, Goose, Psylocke, Captain America, Cosmo, Electro, Doom 2099, Wong, Klaw, Doctor Doom, Spectrum, Onslaught [Untapped Deck Link Removed]

This budget-friendly deck (only Doom 2099 is a Series 5 card) offers flexibility. Early Doom 2099 deployment with Psylocke or a turn 3 Electro sets up powerful board states. Failing an early Doom 2099, the deck can pivot to a strategy centered around regular Doctor Doom or Spectrum's buffs. Cosmo protects key cards from Enchantress.

Another viable option is a Patriot-style deck:

Ant-Man, Zabu, Dazzler, Mister Sinister, Patriot, Brood, Doom 2099, Super Skrull, Iron Lad, Blue Marvel, Doctor Doom, Spectrum [Untapped Deck Link Removed]

This equally affordable deck (again, only Doom 2099 is Series 5) utilizes the Patriot strategy, playing early game cards like Mister Sinister and Brood before transitioning to Doom 2099. Zabu discounts 4-cost cards for early plays. Flexibility allows skipping DoomBot spawns to play powerful 3-cost cards on the final turn. Super Skrull counters other Doom 2099 decks, but the deck remains vulnerable to Enchantress.

Is Doom 2099 Worth Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector’s Tokens?

While Daken and Miek (released alongside Doom 2099) are relatively weak, Doom 2099's power and deck-building affordability make him a worthwhile investment. Using Collector's Tokens is ideal, but don't hesitate to acquire him this month. He's poised to be a meta-defining card, barring significant nerfs.

These are some of the top-performing Doom 2099 decks in Marvel Snap. Enjoy!
