*Monster Hunter Wilds* has streamlined many of the series' systems, making monster tracking almost obsolete. However, there's one notable exception: tracking the elusive Black Flame. Here's how to locate and confront the Black Flame in *Monster Hunter Wilds*.
Tracking the Black Flame in Monster Hunter Wilds
Midway through the main storyline, specifically in Chapter 3, the Black Flame monster makes an appearance before disappearing into the Oilwell Basin. Your mission is to track it down and defeat it.
Begin by leaving the Base Camp and make your way to Zone 9 of the region, as shown in the map screenshot below.
As you journey towards Zone 9, keep an eye out for tar tracks on the ground. Interact with these tracks, and your Hunter will pick up the Black Flame's trail, which will then be relayed to the scoutflies. This makes tracking the monster's exact location straightforward. Follow the green path illuminated by the scoutflies to reach Zone 9, where a giant flaming crater awaits.
The Black Flame, also known as Nu Udra, is a tentacled beast capable of unleashing fire and other flame-based attacks. To ease the battle, focus on severing a few of its tentacles first. This strategy not only simplifies the fight but also grants you better access to its inner weak points, enabling you to gather more materials by the end of the battle.
It's advisable to carry Cool Drinks to combat the region's intense heat, as it can cause continuous health depletion without them.
