Deltarune Chapter 4 is nearing completion, but a release date remains elusive. Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale and Deltarune, recently shared a development update in his newsletter.

Chapter 4 Progress Report:

Fox confirmed that Chapters 3 and 4 will launch simultaneously on PC, Switch, and PS4. While Chapter 4 is largely finished—all maps are complete, battles are playable—it still needs polishing. Minor adjustments to cutscenes, battle balancing, visual effects, and background elements are ongoing. Despite this, Fox considers the chapter essentially ready, having received positive feedback from testers.

Challenges and Upcoming Tasks:

The multi-platform and multilingual release presents significant challenges. Fox highlighted the importance of ensuring a polished, bug-free launch, especially since this will be the first major paid release since Undertale. The team's immediate priorities include:

  • Testing new game features
  • Finalizing PC and console versions
  • Japanese localization
  • Rigorous bug testing

Chapter 5 and Beyond:

Chapter 3 development is already complete (as previously announced). Interestingly, Fox revealed that some team members have begun preliminary work on Chapter 5, designing maps and bullet patterns.

The newsletter included teasers: a snippet of Ralsei and Rouxls' dialogue, a character description for Elnina, and a new item, GingerGuard. While the extended wait since Chapter 2 is understandable given the game's expanding scope (Chapters 3 and 4 combined will be longer than Chapters 1 and 2), Fox assures fans that future chapter releases will be more streamlined once Chapters 3 and 4 are released. No specific release date was given.
