The latest Capcom Spotlight and the Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase have unveiled a wealth of exciting new information on several upcoming Capcom games. From a new story trailer and Open Beta 2 details for Monster Hunter Wilds to more information on Onimusha: Way of the Sword, an Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny remaster, and a release date for Capcom Fighting Collection 2, there's a lot to look forward to.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword Gets a Bunch of New Details

PlayOnimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for a 2026 release, promises to revitalize the beloved franchise with fresh elements. The development team is focusing on three key areas: crafting compelling characters, introducing a new protagonist, and designing engaging enemies. They aim to immerse players in the historical ambiance of Kyoto, filled with authentic locations. The game aspires to be the "ultimate sword fighting action" experience, emphasizing the satisfying feel of combat.

Set in the Edo Period, players will combat the malevolent Genma using a powerful Oni Gauntlet, which the protagonist acquires through a twist of fate. This gauntlet not only aids in defeating enemies but also feeds on their souls. While the game promises a challenging experience, it's designed to be accessible and enjoyable for action fans of all skill levels.

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny Is Getting a Remastered Version in 2025

PlayThe remastered version of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, originally released in 2002, is set to launch in 2025. This remaster is expected to tide fans over until the release of Onimusha: Way of the Sword in 2026.

Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2 to Feature Flagship Monster Arkveld

PlayThe upcoming second Open Beta for Monster Hunter Wilds will introduce the flagship monster Arkveld in an advanced quest designed to challenge players. Other features include a Gypceros Hunt, a training area, and online functionalities like Private Lobbies and Online Single Player mode. Private Lobbies are ideal for playing with friends without appearing in public searches, while Online Single Player allows for solo play with the option to use an S.O.S. Flare to switch to multiplayer when needed.

Players can transfer their data from the first Open Beta to the second, with returning elements such as Character Creator, Story Trial, and the Doshaguma hunt. Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled for release on February 28, and the second Open Beta, featuring Cross-Play, will occur during the following times:

  • Thursday, February 6 at 7pm PT to Sunday, February 9 at 6:59pm PT
  • Thursday, February 13 at 7pm PT to Sunday, February 16 at 6:59pm PT

Participants in the Open Beta will be able to transfer their character data to the full game, though no game progression will carry over. Those who participate will receive a special Pendant as a reward.

Monster Hunter Wilds Reveals Iceshard Cliffs and New Enemies Just Waiting to Be Fought

The Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase introduced a new story trailer set in the frozen Iceshard Cliffs, introducing new enemies such as the Wudwud Rove, Hirabami - Leviathan, Nerscylla - Temnoceran, and the fearsome Gore Magala. More details on the flagship monster Arkveld were also shared.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Launches on May 16

PlayCapcom Fighting Collection 2 is set to launch on May 16, 2025, featuring a diverse lineup of fighting games including Capcom vs. SNK Millennium Fight 2000 Pro, Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Project Justice, and Plasma Sword: Night of Bilstein.

Street Fighter 6 Adds Fatal Fury's Mai on February 5

PlayStreet Fighter 6 will welcome Fatal Fury's Mai to its roster on February 5. Mai is the second-last character to be added in Year 2, following M. Bison and Terry. The final character, Elena, will be detailed in future updates.
