The iconic role-playing game, Breath of Fire IV, has been resurrected on PC, a remarkable 25 years after its initial release. Originally launched on the PlayStation in Japan and North America in 2000, and in Europe the following year, the game also saw a PC port in Europe and Japan in 2003. The story follows Ryu, a protagonist with the unique ability to transform into a dragon, who joins forces with other warriors to thwart an emperor's plan to obliterate the world.
As part of its ongoing Preservation Program, GOG has meticulously updated Breath of Fire IV for contemporary PCs, making it available DRM-free on its platform. This enhanced version is optimized for modern systems, boasting compatibility with Windows 10 and 11. Players can enjoy the game in both English and Japanese, with upgraded graphics thanks to an advanced DirectX renderer. New display options such as Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and refined gamma correction enhance the visual experience. Additionally, the audio engine has been overhauled, restoring missing environmental sounds and introducing new configuration options.
