"Blackroot Location in Divinity Original Sin 2 Revealed"

Quick Links

In the expansive world of Divinity: Original Sin 2, the Blackroot stands out as a crucial herb, especially needed during the fourth act for the Meister's Ritual under the guidance of Meister Siva. This ritual requires crafting a special Ritual Bowl using a ritual bowl, a bloody obsidian lancet, and the elusive Blackroot, allowing access to the Hall of Echoes and granting you the Night Vision skill.

The first time you undertake this ritual, all necessary ingredients are conveniently located in Siva's basement. However, subsequent rituals after earning each Source point require you to gather these items yourself. While the ritual bowl and obsidian lancet are relatively easy to obtain, often already in your inventory, finding Blackroot can be a daunting task. If your search for Blackroot has been fruitless, this guide will assist you.

Venture Into Cloisterwood

Cloisterwood, a dense forest in the northwestern part of Reaper's Coast, is just a short trek north of Driftwood. Once you're deep in the forest, use the left ALT key to highlight all interactable items.

You'll soon discover various herbs, including Blackroots, nestled at the base of trees. While you only need one for the ritual, it's wise to collect several as a precaution. This guide avoids spoilers on the number of rituals required, but remember, you can perform the ritual each time you gain a Source point.

Cloisterwood Exploration Tips

Cloisterwood is rich with secrets, including encounters with NPCs who can help you earn Source points. Hannag and Jahan are two such characters, with Jahan also playing a role in Lohse's storyline. Hidden among ruins, you'll find Eithne, an undead trader, who offers a side quest when you choose the "Divine Order" option.

Further north, a pier leads to the Dead Ferryman, providing passage to Bloodmoon Island. These are just a few of the intriguing NPCs in Cloisterwood. The forest also holds other mysteries like the Wrecker's Cave and a chance to acquire a unique loremaster amulet by conversing with a ship captain's spirit. For first-time explorers, a thorough investigation of Cloisterwood is recommended, though it's best to avoid confronting the crucified witch Alice Alisceon until you reach at least level 15.
