Assassin’s Creed Shadows Delayed To March 2025 to Implement Player Feedback

Ubisoft has announced a delay for the highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed Shadows, pushing its release to March 20, 2025. This decision comes as the company continues to refine the game, aiming for a superior gameplay experience. Here's a detailed look at the reasons behind the delay and Ubisoft's plans moving forward.

Ubisoft Aiming For A More Engaging Experience

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has faced its second delay, now scheduled for release on March 20th, 2025. Ubisoft has cited the necessity of incorporating player feedback to ensure a "high-quality, immersive experience." Originally set for a 2024 launch, the game's release was first postponed to February 14th, 2025, before being rescheduled to March.

Ubisoft shared the update across their official X (Twitter) and Facebook channels, emphasizing their commitment to enhancing the game. They stated, "Each week has brought valuable feedback from our community. While we’ve already made remarkable strides, we believe a few additional weeks are needed to implement that feedback and ensure an even more ambitious and engaging day-one experience."

Ubisoft's CEO, Yves Guillemot, further elaborated in a press release, saying, "We are all behind our teams’ efforts to create the most ambitious Assassin’s Creed opus of the franchise and made the decision to provide an extra month of development to Shadows in order to better incorporate the player feedback gathered over the past three months that will enable us to fully deliver on the potential of the game and finish the year on a strong note."

In addition to the game delay, Ubisoft announced a strategic restructuring aimed at improving player experiences, operational efficiency, and maximizing value creation. This comes after a challenging year where their 2024 releases, Star Wars Outlaws and the live-service shooter XDefiant, underperformed. Star Wars Outlaws saw disappointing sales at launch, while XDefiant ended its support just seven months after its May release.

Despite Ubisoft's official reasons for the delay, some fans believe that the shift to March may also be a strategic move to avoid competition with other major titles slated for February. Notable releases in February include Kingdom Come: Deliverance II (February 4th), Civilization VII (February 11th), Avowed (February 18th), and Monster Hunter Wilds (February 28th). This move could help Assassin’s Creed Shadows stand out and garner more attention upon its release.
