The highly anticipated Amazon adaptation of the video game "God of War" is already set for two seasons, even before its premiere. This exciting news comes from the show's new showrunner, Ronald D. Moore, who stepped in after the departure of previous showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus. In a recent chat with Katee Sackhoff, another alum from the acclaimed series Battlestar Galactica, Moore shared insights into his current project.

"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of, there's a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they've asked me to come in," Moore revealed. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, working on that. That's my new thing."

Despite not being a seasoned gamer, Moore confessed to enjoying classic arcade games like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He humorously recounted his struggles with modern gaming controllers, saying, "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead."

For the God of War series, Moore has taken on multiple roles as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. His impressive resume includes work on iconic shows like Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and the critically acclaimed 2000s reboot of Battlestar Galactica.

While some members of the original team have moved on, Sony's Cory Barlog remains involved as an executive producer. Although details about the series are still sparse, it's confirmed that the show will be based on the 2018 installment of God of War.

Amazon's swift renewals of other video game adaptations, such as the Fallout TV show and Secret Level, following their successful launches, suggest a promising future for the God of War series on the streaming platform.
