The PlayStation Portal, a unique handheld gaming accessory for the PS5, has never seen a discount on new units, but you can snag a Used: Like New condition one at a reduced price. Amazon Resale currently offers these units for just $150.23, shipped. This represents a significant 25% savings off the original $199 retail price. While a Sony warranty might not be included, these items still come with Amazon's standard 30-day return policy. Given their popularity, we anticipate these units will sell out quickly.
Update: The price has now dropped to $150.23, marking the lowest price we've seen for a Used: Like New PlayStation Portal.

The PlayStation Portal is designed to transform your PS5 into a handheld gaming device, featuring an 8-inch 1080p LCD screen integrated into what resembles an extended split-pad DualSense controller. It allows you to stream games from your PS5 at up to 60fps, replicating the DualSense's haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and touchscreen interface. For streaming outside your home, a very stable and fast internet connection is essential. Remember, the PS Portal isn't a standalone device; it requires a PS5 to function.
Update: You no longer need a PS5 to play games on the PS Portal. Sony has rolled out a feature allowing owners to stream games directly from PlayStation Now, their cloud streaming service. This opens up a library of over 120 games including titles like Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. To access this, you'll need to subscribe to the highest tier of PlayStation Plus for $18 a month, a much more budget-friendly option than purchasing a PS5 and individual games.
It's important to note that while the PlayStation Portal is a dedicated device for streaming PS5 games, you can achieve similar results by using the PS Remote Play app on a mobile device or other gaming handhelds like the Steam Deck. However, setting this up can be more complex, and you might miss out on some of the DualSense's unique features.
PlayStation Portal Review by Seth Macy**
"The PlayStation Portal surprised me in the best way possible. Initially skeptical, I found it to be a far superior experience compared to using a phone with an attachable controller. It's incredibly liberating to play my PS5 games anywhere with decent WiFi, particularly when the TV is occupied by family members playing the Switch. While it's not a standalone device and requires a PlayStation 5, the Portal's potential is slightly limited by its inability to connect to WiFi that requires a web browser for login and its lack of Bluetooth audio support. Despite these drawbacks, it's the best solution for PlayStation Remote Play currently available, and would be a must-own for every PS5 owner who values handheld gaming or competes for TV time at home."
