Authore: DavidUpdate:Apr 06,2025

Dell has recently revitalized the iconic Alienware Area-51 lineup of prebuilt gaming PCs, and now, you have more options than ever. Previously limited to a single graphics card, the RTX 5080, you can now configure your Alienware Area-51 with the powerhouse Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU and the highly anticipated Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, starting at $5,499.99. The best part? You won't have to wait long; Dell is estimating an early April ship date for these systems.

Priced at $5,499.99 at Alienware, this "base" configuration for an Alienware Area-51 gaming PC with an RTX 5090 GPU is anything but basic. It comes loaded with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The Core Ultra 9 285K, Intel's latest flagship CPU, delivers exceptional performance for both gaming and workstation tasks. While it doesn't surpass the i9-14900K as much as we hoped, it's currently the best Intel has to offer. The system is cooled by a robust 360mm all-in-one liquid cooler and powered by a 1,500W 80Plus Platinum-rated power supply, ensuring stability and efficiency.

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025, featuring a chassis that echoes the 2024 R16 model but with significant aesthetic and cooling enhancements. The I/O panel has been moved to the top of the case, and the tempered glass window now covers the entire side panel, eliminating the need for side vents. Air intakes are now located at the bottom and front, promoting a positive airflow design that keeps the interior cleaner. The internal components have been upgraded with a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest CPUs and GPUs.

The RTX 5090 Is the Most Powerful Graphics Card Ever

----------------------------------------------------

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 stands as the most powerful consumer GPU available. Despite Nvidia's focus on software updates, AI features, and DLSS 4 technology, the RTX 5090 offers a significant 25%-30% performance increase over the RTX 4090 in terms of raw raster performance. It also features more and faster VRAM, with 32GB of GDDR7 compared to the 4090's 24GB of GDDR6. Due to high demand, the RTX 5090 is hard to find at its retail price, often selling for $3,500-$4,000 on eBay.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE Review by Jackie Thomas

"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially taken the performance crown from the RTX 4090, though the generational uplift in traditional non-AI gaming performance is modest. However, in games that support it, DLSS 4 delivers substantial performance gains, albeit with 75% of the frames being AI-generated."
