Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series by letting fans vote on the next round of official merchandise. A whopping 100 items are up for grabs, with the top two vote-getters promised for release within the next two years. The vote, currently only available on the Japanese official website, offers a diverse range of options.
While some choices are more conventional, like anniversary hoodies or pencil cases, many others draw from the series' famously eccentric history. The selection includes truly bizarre items, such as:
- The cult outfit worn by Munan Suzuki in Yakuza 0.
- Majima's oversized traffic cone from Yakuza Kiwami.
- The intriguingly named "Puffy Gold Pants."
Other options include Majima's sake cup from Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Akiyama's gold watch, Kiryu's fountain pen from Yakuza 6, Kashiwagi's tambourine from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Kiryu's wrestling mask from Yakuza 3, and Saejima's prison uniform from Yakuza 4.
The studio is already planning at least one release for the anniversary year of 2025: Like a Dragon: Pirate of the Caribbean (presumably a mistranslation of the actual title, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth), launching February 21st. While a second major release might seem ambitious, RGG Studio is renowned for its prolific output. The past five years alone have seen the release of nine games, including Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Judgment Remastered, Lost Judgment, Like a Dragon: Ishin, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, and two Super Monkey Ball titles, plus an enhanced Virtua Fighter 5 remaster.
