Monkey Bomb Replica Banned on Flights by TSA

If you're planning to buy video game collectibles or figures during your travels, think carefully before packing anything that resembles a weapon from Call of Duty.

That’s the key point from a recent Transportation Security Administration (TSA) post about banned items. As reported by Dexerto, the TSA Facebook account shared a photo of a replica Monkey Bomb figure from Call of Duty’s Zombies mode that was discovered in checked luggage at Boston Logan International Airport.

The Monkey Bomb, also called the Cymbal Monkey, has appeared in multiple Call of Duty games, from World at War up to Black Ops 6. This specific figure is designed as a stand for holding a game controller, but it’s modeled after an explosive device—complete with what looks like dynamite and wires attached.

“In a game, this monkey might earn you points, but in reality, save it for your loadout screen, not your luggage,” the post stated. “Replica weapons or explosives, no matter how cool or collectible, are not allowed in carry-on or checked bags.”

The TSA website also outlines restrictions on toy weapons, including items like water guns, Nerf blasters, toy swords, or other objects that look like real firearms. This might actually serve as an endorsement of how realistic the Monkey Bomb replica really is.

It's useful information if you're attending a convention or shopping for merchandise abroad. Whether it’s a monkey statue or a set of Naruto-inspired throwing knives, the TSA prohibits any item it deems a security risk—even replicas—in both carry-on and checked baggage.
