Tony Todd Reflects on Final Exit in Final Destination

Authore: NicholasUpdate:Nov 18,2025

The excitement is palpable with Final Destination: Bloodlines now hitting theaters, marking the sixth installment of the legendary franchise. True to form, the film wouldn't be complete without horror icon Tony Todd, best known for his chilling role as the original Candyman. In a powerful monologue—later revealed by producer Craig Perry to be entirely improvised—Todd delivers a haunting performance Perry described as "very bittersweet," given it was the actor's final appearance.

"We were all aware of his declining health," Perry shared with Deadline, reflecting on Todd's last role in the series that began in 2000. "Knowing this would likely be his final film role, especially in a Final Destination movie, added a profound layer of emotion to his performance."

Perry recounted how directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein took a bold approach during filming, encouraging Todd to speak freely rather than follow the script for his pivotal scene.

"The directors made a brilliant call," Perry explained. "They handed Tony those final scripted lines and said, ‘Just speak from your heart—what would you want to tell your fans?’ The raw emotion in that moment? That’s pure Tony Todd connecting directly with the audience who’ve stood by him for decades. It was an unforgettable, cinematic moment—one that will stay with me forever."
