The 2025 Pro Kompetition boasts a total prize pool of $255,000. This is a relatively small amount, even within fighting game community (FGC) standards. Previously, many top players voiced concerns about insufficient prize money, making international travel for potentially meager earnings unsustainable.

This year's competition will likely feature two distinct player pools: one competing in North American tournaments, the other in Europe, converging only at EVO 2025, considered the premier fighting game tournament.
While there's considerable hype and attempts to generate excitement—and to some degree, this is succeeding—the reality behind the fanfare and the teased in-game T-1000 image is rather bleak.
