Stellar Blade's Potential PC Release
Could it Happen Sooner Than Expected?
During Shift Up's IPO press conference on June 25th, CFO Ahn Jae-woo revealed the company is exploring a PC version of Stellar Blade, viewing it as a strong opportunity for further monetization. This consideration, according to Ahn, takes into account the current PS5 market distribution and the shifting trend of AAA game players migrating towards PC gaming.
Shift Up CEO Kim Hyung-Tae confirmed this, stating the PC version is under review, but a release date remains unconfirmed due to contractual obligations. This aligns with the company's public filings indicating consideration of both a PC release and a sequel.
Kim emphasized Stellar Blade's development goal: creating a high-value IP to cultivate a global fanbase. He highlighted the deliberate avoidance of potentially harmful microtransactions, promising a transparent approach that respects players.
Exciting Updates and Collaborations on the Horizon!
The excitement doesn't end there! Stellar Blade's update roadmap includes a Photo Mode (August), new costumes (October), and a major collaboration later this year.
Regarding the recent collaboration with Goddess of Victory: NIKKE, Kim expressed confidence in creating positive synergy between the IPs, promising exciting results.
A Million Copies Sold Worldwide!
Stellar Blade's success is undeniable. Shift Up estimates approximately one million copies sold worldwide within two months of its release. The game also achieved top rankings in major markets like the US and UK across sixty different stores since its April launch.
