Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, has announced record-breaking financial results for 2024. Stellar Blade generated a remarkable $43 million in royalties, and the upcoming PC release is projected to surpass PlayStation 5 sales.
Game World Observer reported Shift Up's 2024 financial report, showcasing a 30.4% year-over-year revenue increase, reaching $151.4 million. Stellar Blade royalties alone contributed $43.2 million to this impressive figure.
The success shows no signs of waning. Shift Up anticipates stronger PC sales than the console version, particularly within the Asian gaming market. While a Stellar Blade sequel remains under consideration, the company plans to unveil its new title, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025.
Project Witches was initially announced in 2024, shortly after Stellar Blade's PS5 launch, preempting significant demand for a direct sequel.
Stellar Blade, a fast-paced action RPG, puts players in the role of Eve as she fights to reclaim Earth from mysterious invaders. The game achieved a 7/10 rating from IGN and sold over a million copies, demonstrating considerable player appeal. However, IGN's review noted that while the core action gameplay was strong, unmemorable characters, a weak narrative, and frustrating RPG mechanics held it back from achieving genre-defining status.
