The animated Disney+ series, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, depicting Peter Parker's freshman year of high school, has already received the green light for both a second and third season.

In an interview with The Movie Podcast, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' head of streaming, television, and animation, disclosed that Season 2 scripts are finalized and half of the animated storyboards are complete, even though Season 1 doesn't debut until tomorrow, January 29. A third season has also been officially approved.

"I've become completely enamored with these characters. Having read all the Season 2 scripts and being halfway through the animatics, I can see the foundation that [lead writer and executive producer Jeff Trammell] is building, piece by piece, start to yield major rewards," Winderbaum said.

"You sense that payoff building in Season 1. You form a strong connection with these characters, so by the season's climax, when all the story threads converge, it feels incredibly impactful. That emotional depth only intensifies in the following seasons."

Winderbaum mentioned he is scheduled to meet with Trammell "in a couple of weeks" to discuss the initial concept for Season 3, though he did not hint at potential release windows for the upcoming seasons.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man chronicles Peter Parker's first year of high school as he acquires his superpowers. It remains to be seen whether Season 2 will focus on his sophomore year and Season 3 on his junior year, or if Marvel intends to continue exploring stories from his initial year as Spider-Man.
