Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Super Thin and Now Available

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, its latest flagship smartphone, at the May Unpacked event. While closely resembling the earlier-released Galaxy S25 from 2025, the S25 Edge boasts a significantly thinner profile, aptly named for its sleek design.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge shares many specifications with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, including the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a high-resolution 200MP camera. The primary distinction lies in its chassis, which has been slimmed down to a mere 5.8mm, compared to the 8.2mm thickness of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This thinner design also results in a lighter weight of just 163g.

Despite the size difference, the Galaxy S25 Edge retains the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display as the Galaxy S25, closely matching the slightly larger 6.9-inch screen of the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Given its thin and large form factor, durability is a key concern. Samsung addresses this by incorporating the new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which they claim is more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, the real test will be its resilience against everyday mishaps, like sitting on it in your pocket. Will it be robust enough to avoid a repeat of the infamous "bendgate"?

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge continues the legacy of "Mobile AI" tools introduced with the Galaxy S24 and refined throughout 2025. Thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, many AI functions can be processed locally on the device, enhancing user privacy. However, some AI applications will still require cloud connectivity. Among its standout features are tools that summarize notifications and news articles, providing users with quick and convenient information at a glance.

Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge start today, with prices beginning at $1,099 for the 256GB model and $1,219 for the 512GB version. The phone is available in three elegant color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.

Samsung emphasizes the durability of this slim device, but only time will tell if their claims hold up in the real world.
