Earlier this month, reports surfaced that Sadie Sink, known for her role as Max Mayfield in Stranger Things, would join Tom Holland in Spider-Man 4. According to Deadline, Sink—who debuted in the 2016 sports drama Chuck—will appear in the upcoming MCU film, scheduled to start production later this year for a July 31, 2026 release.

Marvel and Sony declined to comment when approached by Deadline, though speculation suggested Sink might portray X-Men’s Jean Grey or another iconic red-haired Spider-Man character.

IGN later explored potential Marvel roles Sadie Sink could take on in Spider-Man 4 and future MCU projects.

In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz, Sink playfully sidestepped the Jean Grey rumors but called them "awesome."

"This is news to me," she responded when asked about the X-Men speculation.

Pressed on whether she’d discussed the role with Marvel’s Kevin Feige, Sink replied, “No. I have nothing to add.”

She added with a smile: “But the rumors are thrilling! It’s an incredible character.”

Sink acknowledged familiarity with Jean Grey: “She’s a fantastic role—so reading about it was exciting!”

When asked hypothetically about committing to a long-term MCU role, she said, “The idea is definitely exhilarating.”

The conversation ended there, with Sink keeping tight-lipped. Horowitz hinted at revisiting the topic once her potential MCU involvement is confirmed.

Last year, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige hinted at introducing X-Men characters in upcoming MCU films.

At Disney’s APAC Content Showcase in Singapore, Feige revealed audiences would spot "recognizable X-Men figures" soon but withheld specific details.

“Post-Secret Wars, mutants will usher in a new era,” Feige teased. “Having the X-Men back is a dream realized.”

If "few" means three, Marvel’s immediate slate includes Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and 2025’s Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Mutant cameos may extend through Phase 6—spanning 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man 4, plus 2027’s Secret Wars. Questions linger about Deadpool and Wolverine’s MCU return after this summer’s success, and whether Channing Tatum’s Gambit will reappear.

Feige confirmed the X-Men’s pivotal post-Secret Wars role: “Unlike Endgame’s buildup, we’ve mapped out through Secret Wars and beyond—with mutants central to that vision.”

Phase 7 seems primed for X-Men dominance. Recently, Storm debuted in What If...? Season 3, marking her first MCU appearance.

Marvel Studios slated three untitled 2028 releases—February 18, May 5, and November 10—with one likely being an X-Men project.
