So, you want to know the secrets to fishing in *Rune Slayer*? Let's get you hooked! (Pun intended). This wasn't immediately obvious, even to us, but fear not, we've cracked the code. Yes, *Rune Slayer* has fishing, solidifying its MMORPG credentials.

First, you'll need to accept a quest from Simon the Fisherman (the white-haired NPC near the Barracuda swimming area). He'll ask you to catch five "fish"—and we'll explain those quotation marks later. To do this, you'll need a fishing rod and bait.

Guess who sells those essentials? Simon, of course! Buy a Wood Fishing Rod and some Worms. We recommend at least five worms, but ten is better to be safe. Important note: you don't equip the bait; just keep the worms in your inventory. Each successful catch (or even a "catch" of junk) will automatically consume one worm. It seems you need at least five worms in your inventory to even start catching anything. Keep them handy in your hotbar for easy tracking.
How to catch fish in Rune Slayer

Select your Wood Fishing Rod (it doesn't equip, just have it in your hotbar). Hold M1 to cast your line into the water (the pier near Simon works perfectly). Watch the bobber; when it ripples (once or twice), click M1 again to reel in your catch. It’s not foolproof; you might catch nothing, or even junk, but Simon counts junk as a catch. Catch five "fish" (fish or junk) and return to Simon to complete the quest and receive a Tackle Box to store your future bait.

Once you've completed Simon's quest, you'll get a Tackle Box to store your worms, freeing up valuable inventory space. That's it! Happy fishing! For more *Rune Slayer* tips and tricks, check out our Ultimate Beginner's Guide.
