SEGA Weighs Global Release of P5X
Will Persona 5: The Phantom X Reach Western Shores?
SEGA's financial report for the fiscal year ending March 2024 indicates that Persona 5: The Phantom X is exceeding expectations in its initial sales and that a global release, alongside further expansion in Japan, is under active consideration.
Currently in Open Beta, Limited Regions
Licensed by Atlus, Persona 5: The Phantom X initially launched in a soft-launch open beta phase for mobile and PC platforms in China (April 12, 2024), followed by Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, and Taiwan (April 18, 2024). Perfect World Games (South Korea) publishes the game, with development handled by its subsidiary, Black Wings Game Studio (China).
Players assume the role of "Wonder," a high school student by day and a Persona-wielding Phantom Thief by night, joining forces to combat societal injustices.
Wonder's initial Persona is Janosik, inspired by Slovakian folklore and embodying a Robin Hood archetype. The iconic Joker from Persona 5 and a new character, YUI, also feature in the team.
The game retains the series' signature turn-based combat, social simulation, and dungeon crawling elements, but integrates a gacha system for character acquisition.
