Nintendo's Alarmo Alarm Clock: Wider Release and Enhanced Features
Nintendo's interactive alarm clock, Alarmo, is slated for a wider release in March 2025, as announced via the company's Twitter (X) account. Initially available only to Nintendo Online subscribers, this expanded release will make Alarmo accessible to all.
Beyond the Nintendo Online Requirement
The March 2025 release removes the previous Nintendo Online membership requirement, opening up purchasing to a broader audience. Alarmo will be available at major retailers worldwide, including Target, Walmart, GameStop, and other authorized retailers. The device retails for $99.99 USD.
Initial Release Frenzy
Following its initial announcement on October 9th, 2024, Alarmo quickly sold out. In Japan, sales were temporarily suspended on the My Nintendo Store, shifting to a lottery system for Nintendo Online subscribers. Similar high demand led to sell-outs in locations like New York City.
Alarmo's Engaging Features
Alarmo boasts a unique blend of gaming nostalgia and practical functionality. It features a range of sound effects and visuals from popular Nintendo franchises such as Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Splatoon 3, offering 42 selectable scenes at launch, with more promised via free updates.
The alarm itself is interactive: a game character gently wakes you, and a "visitor" appears if you linger too long in bed, escalating the sound until you get up. The motion sensor allows you to silence the alarm without touching the device. Additional features include hourly chimes, sleep sounds, and sleep pattern tracking. For those sharing a bed with others or pets, a "Button Mode" is recommended.
