Nintendo Switch Pro Leak: Release Date Unveiled

Nintendo Switch 2 Announcement Imminent: Thursday, January 16th?

Reliable sources indicate a January 16th unveiling for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. This Thursday announcement, echoing the original Switch's reveal day in 2016, strongly suggests a first-half 2025 release.

The Switch 2's existence has been an open secret, with mass production reportedly commencing in late September or early October 2024. Numerous hardware leaks further substantiate these claims. Nintendo's previous commitment to a pre-March 31st announcement (end of their fiscal year) appears poised for fulfillment.

NateTheHate, a reputable leaker, confirmed the January 16th date on his January 13th podcast, citing undisclosed sources. This aligns with Nintendo's historical preference for Thursday announcements. The Verge's Tom Warren corroborated this information.

Switch 2: Leaks Galore

While a pre-announcement teaser, similar to the 2017 Switch reveal, remains a possibility, the sheer volume of leaks makes a surprise unlikely. The extensive unofficial information circulating has even prompted Nintendo to address a Switch 2 replica, a rare acknowledgment of leaks.

Rumors suggest a slightly larger console (270 x 116 x 14mm) with an 8-inch LCD screen and magnetically attaching Joy-Cons. The right Joy-Con may feature a new "C" button, possibly related to a rumored mouse-like pointer function.

Launch Titles Remain Enigmatic

Unlike the hardware details, the Switch 2's launch lineup remains shrouded in mystery. While games like My Time at Evershine and Bestiario are confirmed, neither is expected as a day-one title, assuming a first-half 2025 release. Nintendo will likely leverage at least one or two major first-party titles to drive initial sales.
