Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims
Following the recent CES 2025 event, where accessory maker Genki unveiled a purported 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup, Nintendo has officially refuted the claims. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper reported Nintendo's statement that the images and videos are not official. The company explicitly denied providing Genki with any Switch 2 hardware.
Genki, an American manufacturer of electronics and gaming accessories (controllers, SSDs, chargers, etc.), generated significant buzz by showcasing the mockup and reportedly claiming possession of a functional Switch 2 unit, along with a purported release date. They even feature a detailed animated Switch 2 mockup on their website dedicated to upcoming Switch 2 accessories.
Nintendo, however, has remained tight-lipped on official details regarding the Switch 2, stating only that announcements are forthcoming. The only confirmed feature is backward compatibility with existing Switch games. Given Genki's claims, Nintendo may feel increased pressure to officially reveal the console soon.
